Neurotica

Neurotica is a London based label specializing in super wearable hand printed pieces designed by Victoria McGrane.

Victoria grew up in the sunny Northern Beaches of Sydney where she studied Visual Arts and Textile Design for Print. After an extended backpacking trip through South East Asia and Europe she ended up in London. After stints working for fashion designers Michelle Lowe-Holder and Siv Stoldal and setting up a small print studio, Victoria launched Neurotica in 2006.

Victoria’s love of print is evident in all of her designs which feature intricate geometric repeats and whimsical hand drawn illustrations influenced by music, nature, nostalgia and the beauty of the everyday.

The name of the label is indicative of the mood and aesthetic of the line and the fact that Victoria is a self confessed neurotic… it’s designed with the kind of girl in mind who is a bit dark and weird but somehow sexy in an awkward playful way and this sensibility is reflected within the collections.

Neurotica is currently stocked in boutiques in London, New York, Sydney and Melbourne.

Olanic

Taking influence from the underground, the Olanic label is driven by the idea of heightening everyday, practical styles with a quirky, tailored edge. Performance – whether related to art and film or music – is also a pivotal inspiration.

Following a design education & consulting jobs for the UK High Street, Olanic was established by designer Niki Taylor, an anagram of her full first name Nicola, showing her first mainline collection at Rendez-Vous, Paris Fashion Week in October 2004.  She has exhibited subsequent collections at London Fashion Week and quickly gained a fan club amongst bands and DJ’s.

The Times recently tipped Olanic as being one of the "Top Ten Fashion Names to Watch" and the label has featured recently in Vogue, Elle and the New York Times.  She has also styled & art directed videos and is popular with Glasgow’s underground music and art scene.

Olanic has collaborated with Scottish Textiles companies Locharron of Scotland and Calzeat & co Ltd for the Autumn/Winter 2008/2009 olanic collection ‘The Boys’.

“I have really enjoyed collaborating with Locharron and Calzeat on my latest collection and excited to be showing the collection at London Fashion week. There are some amazing designers coming out of Scotland at the moment and combined with the amazing textile producers that we have is very exciting”

Reem

Reem previously sold top of the range vintage clothing 13 years ago in Notting Hill. Her stall is at Portobello road market, on the junction of Acklam road. During this time she would practice her flair for displaying classic pieces restyled thus widening the appeal of the garment to more than just collectors of vintage fashion. Due to her desire for creation, Reem is renowned for her wildly eclectic style. This, combined with a growing underground reputation. It was only a matter of time before several British designers would introduce themselves to her, with the intention of establishing a working relationship. The likes of John Richmond, Robert Carey Williams, and Stella McCartney, have all courted her services & this has led to highly successful collaborations.

“My fascination for clothes started when I was a teenager. I was offered a place at St Martins School of art, in London, but instead I opted to teach myself to pattern cut and sew by unpicking damaged vintage pieces apart and sewing them back together again. In time, I would start to sell my own customised vintage pieces on my stall. Eventually designers started to take a keen interest in my work. I was approached by John Richmond to style his show in Milan, An offer I did not refuse!” Reem Alasadi

Steph Aman – On|Off exhibition visionary award winner

This newly branded label is accredited to the unique talent of  Steph Aman and her delicate embroidery designs. Having already made waves in London, Italy, Japan and Korea, she is set to gain an even bigger following, exhibiting in London and Paris this February.

Steph Aman set up her womanswear label Aman Copland with colleague Clare Copland in February 2006, showing at the On|Off exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts.  She has been trading as Steph Aman since September 2007.

Taking inspiration from the elegance and savagery of nature, this austere and poetic collection looks at what exists beneath the surface, at what is suggested rather than said.  Playful but dark-hearted, feminine yet subtle.

The collection comprises free-drawn machine embroidery and hand-produced cutwork all with meticulous attention to detail.  This season Steph Aman has collaborated with typewriter artist  Keira Rathbone.  Keira has produced illustrations that are featured as prints on various garments in the Autumn/Winter 2008 collection.

All the designs are 100% natural featuring: silk, chiffon, tulle, habotai, satin, jersey and leather. The garments are in muted prime colours: red, blue and yellow - with black and pearl also featuring.
